Requirements

Highland is one of the most versatile screenwriting applications out there (in my personal opinion).

It is based on the open-source „Fountain“ format, which is completely platform and application independent.

That means, you’re no longer „forced“ to only work with screenwriting applications that can handle a certain format (as Final Draft’s FDX for example), but rather, you can take your „Fountain“ file and use with almost any other writing application there is.

This gives you back the control over your content, and you’re not bound to one specific writing program.

Apart from this, Highland offers you a variety of writing features that speed up and optimize your writing process.

If you use it, it becomes clear that it was developed by someone who is a professional screenwriter himself (John August).

It has a very clean, clutter-free interface, so you’re not distracted by anything while you’re writing.

It lets you structure your story very easily, so you can map everything out beforehand, and make sure you have a powerful reading-experience before you even start to write.

The learning curve to using Highland is very small. That means you can start using it right way.

It’s very intuitive.

But still, it gives you professional writing features for screenwriters, bloggers, and book authors, so you can make sure whatever you hand to a producer, manager, agent, or production company, is a professional-looking draft.

In this course, we will go through Highland’s functionality step by step, and you will see it is very easy to use and very „writer-friendly“.
