An Overview and Understanding of the Praxis II Music Exam

Are you getting ready to take the Praxis II: Music Content Knowledge (5113) exam anytime soon? Are you looking for state licensure to teach in a public or private school? If so, then this course is for you. This course is designed to introduce the components of the Praxis exam, compare and contrast the two main sections of the exam, and navigate the four main categories within music that make up the one-hundred and twenty question exam. We use the Praxis handbook, provided by ETS at no cost as a PDF, to help understand what to expect on the exam, and what to expect from you as the test-taker. This course covers topics such as familiarizing one’s self with the exam; understanding the scores; practicing sample questions; and much, much more! The course also offers helpful tips for studying and encouragement on the eve of the exam, as well as on the day of the exam. As an extra, this course examines the study plan as presented by ETS to help students study for the exam. There are no prerequisites for this course. This course is an “introduction” and “overview” of what the Praxis exam is all about based on the ETS handbook.
